Grass Fed Beef Shares

$8-8.50/ Lb*
Marlowe Farms Cattle are born and raised on our beautiful farm in Monroe Georgia. They enjoy a life of free range grazing on our grass pastures. We maintain a low stocking rate per acre to ensure that our cattle have more grass than they can consume. We also bale our own hay on farm so our cattle enjoy the same native grasses year round. They are never given any hormones or confined to a feed lot. With the natural free range pasture grazing we give our cattle they are extremely healthy, and are never treated with antibiotics.

Our beef shares are processed by the same USDA processor that our by the cut beef are processed.

Please see the Below commonly asked questions for buying a share of beef.

*Our share prices are based on hanging weight and amount of share purchased. Whole beef $8/lb, 1/2 Beef $8/lb, 1/4 beef $8.50/lb

Frequently asked Questions

Is your Beef Grass fed AND finished?
Yes! All of our beef, whether by the cut or share is grass fed and finished.

How do I reserve a share?
Contact us at 678-975-2042 and we will let you know what shares are available and get you on the calendar.

How much beef is there in a share?
This depends on the live weight of the beef that we take. The live weight can vary depending on time of year. As a general rule you will receive around 65% of whatever the hanging weight of the beef back in actual beef that goes in your freezer depending on your cuts that you get. Excess bone and fat will be removed from the final cuts andthis accounts for the difference in weight from the hanging weight and what goes in your freezer.

What exactly are live weights and hanging weight?
"Live" weight is the weight if the animal while it is still alive and on the hoof. Beef are purchased by this weight for shipment to feed lots and processors. "Hanging" weight is the weight of the animal after it has been dispatched, skinned, gutted and the head and feet have been removed. This is the weight of the 2 halves of the animal that hang in the cooler to age before cutting. This Hanging weight is the most accurate way that we can represent the beef and charge our customers. The processors scales are regularly calibrated and accurate.

Do I have to wait a long time for a share?
This can be a relative question. We currently have standing processing dates every month with our processor. Occasionally if we have lots of shares sold we may be able to schedule an additional date. Typically you will be able to get your share of beef within 30 days of reserving. We will let you know when our next available share will be available.

Can I choose how I want my beef cut?
Yes! If you reserve at least 1/2 of a beef you can dictate how you want you beef cut. Ex. thickness and types of steaks.

How is the beef packaged?
All of our beef is vacuum sealed and frozen. All of the beef will be labeled with the contents and the weight.

Can I buy a live beef from you to process on my own?
Yes, you can buy a live beef from us and prices will vary by time of year and size of beef. Please contact us at 678-975-2042 to schedule a time to pick out and pick up your beef. We do recommend if you plan on taking the beef to a processor and not processing it yourself that you set up a processing date before purchasing. Most processors are booked up to a year out.

Is your beef aged?
Yes and NO, Our beef hangs in a cooler for 2 weeks after the animal has been dispatched and cleaned, this allows extra water weight and blood to drain. We do not age them for longer than 2 weeks. You loose a lot of weight in not only moisture but much of the outside of the beef must be trimmed away to get to the desired cuts.

How many steaks will I get?
This is another question without a good concrete answer. The number of steaks will vary based on the size of the beef, the types of steaks requested and the thickness of the steaks. In general 60% or more of your share will be ground beef depending on if you want roasts, brisket, ribs, cubed steak ect. We typically see about 15-20 of each cut of steak in any given whole beef if the steaks are cut cut 1" thick. You will get back all of the beef related to your share. for example if you get 1/2 Share you will get 1/2 of all of the steaks cut from that beef.

Will I ever use that much ground beef?
Many people that get a share for the first time are often overwhelmed by the amount of ground beef. What we find though is we really don't realize how much ground beef we use every week. More often than not our share customers are returning to purchase more ground beef before they run out of the steaks and other cuts in their share.
